About

Amfiteatru Foundation (Bucharest/ Romania) and the Nitja Center for Contemporary Art (Lillestrøm/ Norway) are collaborating on a bilateral Romanian-Norwegian education and exhibition program for young artists. The project aims to develop the careers of young artists and will provide them with an international platform, in order to increase their visibility and is part of the call for bilateral initiatives – “Bilateral cooperation for the development of contemporary art”

The program includes mentoring in curatorship, a visual art exhibition that will have the opening in both Bucharest and Lillestrøm, and an exhibition catalog that will document the entire initiative.

Two young artists will organize, as curators, an exhibition, exchange of experience, with the works of two young photographers – one from Romania and one from Norway, under the guidance of experienced professionals in the cultural field.

The project team will produce a contemporary visual art exhibition that will be supported by both partner organizations. Mentors from both organizations will also participate in the exchange of experience.

The Next Generation of Artists project will take place over a period of 4 months, from November 2024 to February 2025, in Bucharest/Romania and Lillestrøm/Norway. It is funded by a grant of 518,975 RON (104,267.14 EUR) through the EEA and Norwegian Grants – Bilateral National Fund, within the framework of the RO-CULTURA Programme.

About the EEA and Norwegian Grants
The EEA and Norwegian Grants represent the contribution of Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway to a green, competitive, and inclusive Europe. There are two main objectives: reducing economic and social disparities in Europe and strengthening bilateral relations between the donor countries and 15 EU member states from Central and Southern Europe and the Baltic States. The three donor countries cooperate closely with the EU through the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA). Between 1994 and 2014, the donors allocated 3.3 billion EUR through consecutive grant schemes. For the period 2014-2021, the EEA and Norwegian Grants total 2.8 billion EUR.
